Support Rael’s Ride
Rael Herman was a Toronto-based business owner, husband, father and avid cyclist. At the age of 35, in 2004, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. After a year of treatments, including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, Rael beat the odds. As part of his recovery, he began to cycle, and raised over $10,000 for cancer research.
Rael’s cancer remained in remission for over 13 years until a “routine” brain MRI in October 2017 showed Rael’s cancer had returned in the form of glioblastoma (GBM), the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Glioblastoma currently has no cure. Sadly, Rael lost his battle with brain cancer on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Rael’s Ride is a rallying cry to show our support and determination to beat this aggressive disease by raising funds for Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to support a clinical testing phase, which will create personalized radiation plans to treat GBM.
This event is organized by a group of Rael’s friends, family and cycling buddies. Our goal is to raise $50,000 for brain cancer research and better GBM treatments. We will not give up our fight to cure Brain Cancer. We hope you will join us and support this worthy cause!
Rest in Peace Rael
