 Recognizing Your Champions of Care
After a patient is discharged from Sunnybrook, its not unusual for the physicians, nurses and others on their care team to receive a card in the mail or floral arrangement, with thanks. The importance of recognizing those who have made a tremendous difference in someone’s Sunnybrook experience inspired Sunnybrook Foundation to establish Champions of Care, the first hospital-based employee recognition program of this kind in Toronto. Sunnybrook’s Champions of Care are the physicians, nurses, volunteers and staff who demonstrate exceptional care and provide outstanding treatment, when it matters most. Dr. Peeter Poldre, Vice President of Education and Medical Affairs, was one of the first to support the program when he recognized four of his colleagues for their contributions in their respective areas of expertise and to Sunnybrook. Champions of Care further supports Sunnybrook’s belief on being here when it matters most – as the hospital of choice for patients in need of lifesaving medical treatment and as the workplace of choice for the best and brightest minds in health care.
