Veterans Care

It Matters Most When Your Granddaughter Says She Loves You

Sunnybrook proudly cares for those who risked their lives fighting for our freedom. Home to veterans of several wars and the largest veterans care facility in Canada, Sunnybrook provides advanced and compassionate care that promotes health and independent living for our veterans and helps us better serve all seniors who turn to us for care.

The Veterans Care program provides long term and complex care services to over 500 veterans. In 2001, the Dorothy Macham Home opened as the first facility in Canada to meet the special needs of veterans suffering from challenging behaviours due to dementia. It is an innovative, state-of-the-art facility and the research conducted through the care provided here will inform the care of residents in other facilities across the country.

Beyond our medical care, we also offer a myriad of recreational and creative arts programs designed to maximize quality of life for our residents. An interdisciplinary team of staff and volunteers works hard to nurture the body, mind and spirit of those who call Sunnybrook home.
