Sunnybrook Research Institute

It Matters Most When The Next Discovery Means A Cure

Over 650 of Canada’s leading medical research minds are working at Sunnybrook Research Institute to understand and prevent disease, improve patient care and develop life-enhancing treatments. We are inventing the future of health care.

Central to achieving our vision is how we integrate research and clinical care by bringing together scientists and clinician-scientists with diverse skills and backgrounds committed to excellence in their fields. We span the continuum of research from basic science to translational research to knowledge transfer. There are four disciplines:

  • molecular and cellular biology
  • clinical integrative biology
  • imaging
  • clinical epidemiology.

Each scientist aligns with a discipline and one of Sunnybrook’s strategic programs. This multidisciplinary approach derives from a core vision: to achieve discovery and its translation into the clinic to set best practices.

As one of the fastest-growing research enterprises in Canada, the day-to-day integration of research and clinical care remains our proudest accomplishment, by providing an unparalleled setting in which to achieve breakthroughs, train the next generation of scientists and health care professionals, and, consequentially, do the best by our patients.

Research

Sunnybrook’s vision is to invent the future of health care. Research is the engine that powers this innovation.

Attracting the greatest medical scientists is a globally competitive challenge. The world’s best go where the funding for their research is available and where they can find peers and facilities to support their work.

We have some of the world’s best. We need to keep them and we need more of them.

Finding the solutions to medicine’s most life-threatening conditions is expensive. And it’s not fully funded by any level of government. The Campaign for Sunnybrook will fund these solutions.
