New Idea for Wedding Favours
Laura Cassiani and Jason Salisny In July 2006, newlyweds Laura Cassiani and Jason Salisny incorporated many of the traditional elements to their outdoor summer wedding. However, they took a non-traditional approach when deciding on the ideal “wedding favours” for their guests. “It had to be something meaningful,” says Laura. Instead of the traditional wedding favour, Laura and Jason opted to make a donation to the Ross Tilley Burn Centre on behalf of their guests. The couple wrapped their announcement around individual boxes of traditional Italian confetti and chocolates, which each guest took home. “We wanted to do something that would honour and thank our guests in a way that would have significance beyond our special day,” says Laura. As a firefighter, Jason is well aware of the dangers and devastating effects of fire and fire-related injuries. “I’ve experienced first-hand the devastating effects of fire,” says Jason. “We decided on the Ross Tilley Burn Centre in order to bring awareness to fire-related injuries and treatment, and in our own way, to recognize the exceptional work performed at the Ross Tilley Burn Centre.” “We would absolutely recommend making a donation. There is no better feeling,” says Laura. “We hope in some small way our donation will have an impact on the care patients receive at the Ross Tilley Burn Centre.” Learn more about Trauma, Emergency & Critical Care
